For those on the course beginning November 12

You will notice that there are posts here from people who have previously done the New Learning Technologies course. I have left them here:
  • for you to read and perhaps learn from
  • to ensure that the complete record of this blog is available to all
  • maybe past participants may come by and join new discussions
  • to illustrate that tools like blogs cross boundaries of time and institution

Hi there
this is my first post to a "blog". Easy enough! The Adelaide City Council Library have one called "Charlottes blog" which is a run down of books to read and links off to other parts of the library. I like the idea! I think they need to be more interactive though. http://www.adelaidecitycouncil.com/scripts/nc.dll?ADCC:STANDARD::pc=PC_151006

Response to Powerpoint Intro: I was a little frustred by the lack of editing of the sound file and by the way that the slides werre not linked to the sound. (I had to divide up the session and was never really sure I had the right slide up when I got back.) Surely there is the technology out there that can make things easier for the asynchronous listener.

Stephen and others - see my response to Stephen's comment back on the Moodle site in the Introductions forum.

Thanks for the encouragement Stony...I've just checked by blog profile which states I work in the industry of accounting and am from Afghanistan. I think I have made a boo boo somewhere.

Michael - I went into the wiki activity and uploaded some info, but checking the history page there were no others there. I have added to the correct wiki?
Regards - Rebecca

Hey SpaceGirl -
go into your Profile and come back to AU - You must be careful because the default is Accounting in Afghanistan - so complete it and save it - you will fix it - and show us if you want to :-)

It is mango season here I had 5 for lunch - I may be transforming into a fruit bat - was going to send you a pic of the crates of mangos in my kitchen - but have yet to find a way to do it - might be back to Moodle? Have a Kool PowerPoint to show too -

And I thought only fruit bats were having fun tonight - this blog has accelerated into nano speeds. The Learning Curve has just gone vertical fellow cybernauts.

The opposite to play is not work,
it is depression.

Play is not opposed to learning,
but an indicator that learning is happening.

Please go to www.youtube.com

Search - Zorba the Greek Yolngu Style

This was filmed in Arnhem Land at Ramingining and included some dancers from Galiwinku last month.
Lionel in front in blue thought up, designed and coreographed the dance for his sister's return.
There were other dances filmed - yet to be released by TEABBA
Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association.

They have been invited to Greece to perform! It has been up for three weeks and already has over 200,000 hits

Click on it or just click the following:

It worx best if You let it load up (while doing something else) for slower connexions:
Then click Replay

Or just hit on this:

Enjoy the Brilliance

Michael how can we make a youtube?
Can it be done with quicktime or does it need converting to flash?

Apparentely it is easy to add media and links to blogs. Can a photo be added to this comment section? How?
I keep having to form a google account and entering a new password. Is this normal?
I tried to edit this with microsoft word-would not allow me -perhaps we do not have permission

marianthy said...

I am on a plan with limited downloads. Very little downloads left for this month.
I won't be able to open Michael's ppt or Stony's youtub till I change my plan. But look forward to checking them out.

Hi Marianthy - you are up and at it early - perhaps it is wise to check - Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options>Privacy>Accept All Cookies and about your Inet connexion - always wise to have an unlimited account - even if it is dial-up like mine (no BBand here in the outback [bush has become another dirty 4 letter word] yet! - coming soon - but I think Santa will be sooner) - Good to see you are becoming more vocal - You can write your response in Ms Word then Ctrl C (copy) then Ctrl V (paste) into this dialogue box to check your spelling - I am positive Michael will come to your rescue :-)

Hi to all,
At last year 12 exams are over and I can reclaim my life and join the group and learn more about Wikis and blogs

bobsilis said...

At last I have managed to leave the Eyre Peninsula via the network ...I hope.. assuming this is being seen by others out there.

Michael said...

Rest assured Bob - you're post is being seen beyond Eyre Peninsula. All the way over here in Adelaide in fact!

Trudy said...

Hi everyone!! Looking forward to to learning a bit more about new learning technologies! Cheers! Trudy

WOW - talking about bottomless pages how far is this one going?

Michael I took your advice so burned down to the backyard and made a movie - it is now (or soon) on youtube.com called - Waterfalls of Litchfield Park AU - Part 1 - it's the wet season here now (as well as the mango season - I have eaten too many mangos all ready - I am sure I have little growths for leather wings on my back) - it was FUN but will use BBand next time!

These falls go into a lovely large deep water hole - I enjoyed the swim too - C U :-)

Hello Michael - am having trouble uploading my Pic to the Blog - it is the first time I have put my pic on the web - can we all have our pic on this blog or only You the presenter can - did you place it on the right - does it matter where it is placed???
My Pic is under 50KB

Stony River said...

Hi Michael thank you for your quick response - I was trying to get my pic into my profile but it says that it is accepted but does not. I thought it would go next to my posts like yours does - the URL of the pic is where - so I can put it into my profile to update. I tried clicking the pic and using that URL and used the URL of the Blog post - which URL must I enter into My Profile?

Michael said...

Stony - this happens automatically. My guess is that it may take a while (maybe a day or so) before your image shows up when you comment. If you can see your pic in your profile, then eventually it should show up when you comment on ANY blogger blog.

Stony River said...

Perhaps I am too eager - a bit like the youtube I put up today - it takes time - I clicked on My Pic then copied the URL of the image and pasted it into My Profile and then saved the update - so that was the correct process - I got a shock it ended up on top of the blog in the first place - should I take it off there?

By the way it seems Adelaide is having a Heatwave tomorrow - check this URL - http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&locCode=OCN|AU|SA|ADELAIDE&metric=1
- do you know of accuweather? It is excellent for travelers or those interested in the weather anywhere in the world and gives a 15 day forecast. The satellite for this website was launched in 1997 and computers are only now being able to download the vast information from this weather satellite

Stony River said...

Perhaps because it is Sunday?

http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&locCode=OCN|AU|SA|ADELAIDE&metric=1

URL was not all there before

Stony River said...

The URL still didn't make it because it is too long - here tis!

Goto http://www.accuweather.com/

Then click World Weather - near Canada UK and Ireland near the top centre - see it?
Then in Your Local Forecast type

adelaide,au Then Click Enter or Go (no spaces in adelaide,au)

Then click All 15 Days - too easy!
Gives great hourly details too!
